We welcomed Cardopusher to the label just last month, giving him the opening spot on the Frijsfo Beats Vol. 3 compilation. Based in Barcelona (but Venezuelan by birth) the producer is challenging the field of new garage and dubstep head on, blowing most out of the water with sheer grit and soul.
Aptly named, the Instant Loving EP includes the anthemic ‘Then What’ taken from Vol. 3. A club smasher in the most sophisticated sense, like the rest of the EP it’s a hybrid beast, engineered from elements of rugged techno soul and deep garage house. The memorable melody of ‘Instant Glue’ will jump-start any dancefloor that needs to feel some love and start moving, while ‘Loving U’ rolls out on a slower, deeper tip for late night play.
Although these productions are uplifted by the echoes of classic club material, Cardopusher isn’t content to bask in the afterglow. With razor-sharp skill he slices it into new forms, catching moments of dancefloor bliss before stopping, dropping, bouncing and reversing them. Such originality is backed up by staggeringly elastic rhythms, often wildly off the grid but always precisely on point.
As a firm favourite on the Frijsfo roster, we invited Point B to get involved with a remix of ‘Then What’. Rolling out on a 2 step flex, its rhythmic drive would get the nod from Groove Chronicles or Sully. His rework adds trademark synths closer to the vibe of Detroit, however, mixing raw emotion with icy poise.
